Adult Spelling Bee & Benefit Dinner
This event is an evening of unforgettable fun that heightens community awareness, shares our impact and increases the number of people who understand the vital role adult education and literacy plays in our community.
This is not your traditional fundraiser! It is an evening of competition, fun and excitement. Adult spelling teams of three compete against each other in elimination rounds until the last team standing wins! As the spelling happens, many spectators spell along at their tables. Guests continue to tell us they always have a fun filled evening.
Our goal is to net $25,000 to fund our no-cost, one-on-one tutoring for basic education, English as a Second Language, College Support, and Citizenship instruction.

WHY WE NEED THE ALC IN OZAUKEE COUNTY
There is a perception literacy services are not needed in Ozaukee County yet statistics show:
-
7% of Ozaukee County residents do not speak English in the home.
-
Ozaukee County’s poverty level is at 6% and 20% fall into a category of limited assets and income. Although they are working their wages are not sufficient. Better literacy and basic skills offer people a better chance at getting hired, promoted, and earning a higher income.
-
29% of adults in Wisconsin and 4% of adults in Ozaukee County struggle with literacy and lack basic skills.
-
94% of our students make less than $50K, 38% make below $26K.
AN INVESTMENT IN THE ALC IS ONE OF
THE BEST YOU CAN MAKE
We give stability to families and ensure a more educated, reliable and efficient workforce. With improved literacy, individuals gain confidence and become more involved in their community.
We know our students have a better life and make our community stronger. They have earned degrees and U.S. citizenship. They opened new doors to advancement and opened new businesses. They are able to advocate and communicate for themselves and their families at appointments, meetings and doctor visits. They gain confidence to get involved in the community. And they have achieved dreams, and overcome lifelong barriers they never thought they would conquer.
In order to include your logo in promotional material for this event, we ask that you decide on your sponsorship level by March 28, 2022.
